A veneer can change by the look or shape of a single tooth or more to create a beautiful smile.
They are very effective if you want to improve the appearance of teeth that have become stained or chipped and uneven. Transforming your teeth in this way can be a great boost to your confidence especially if you have felt self-conscious about the look of your teeth.
What are Veneers?
Veneers are thin pieces of composite resin and porcelain created to blend in with your natural teeth. They are colour-matched to your own teeth. It is important that you are confident it is the right choice for you as the preparation needed does alter your natural teeth permanently.
How long does the procedure take?
You can achieve a beautiful smile in just two or three appointments. An impression is taken to create a veneer that is an exact match. A small amount of enamel has to be removed from the tooth before the veneer is placed. This enables the veneer to be aligned with the surrounding teeth.
If required your dentist will place a temporary cover over the tooth while you wait for the veneer to be made. Once ready and you are happy with the shade and shape, it is bonded to the prepared teeth or tooth.
How do I look after my veneers?
Veneers are made of strong material and can last a long time. You will need to take care when chewing on hard substances and if you are a finger-nail biter as they can be damaged.
